A Hard Day’s Knight by Simon R. Green

Trent’s Pick:

(Ace, January 2012)

(Note: Book 11 in the Nightside series)

Well, my knack for finding a book in the middle of a series continues.

This book certainly seemed to me to have something of a melting pot of Fantasy (from elves and talking mice) and Sci-Fi (multiple worlds and alternate timelines) themes to it. As a bit of a warning, some may find the amount of descriptive content (especially with some of the fight scenes, or post-battle scenes) a bit much. Not to say that it’s excessive, just a bit more than I expected.

The story carries rather nicely from one chapter to the next, with an interesting bit of humor mixed in. And in the end it was a rather enjoyable read for me. So much so, in fact, that I’m probably going to try and track down a few more from this series.
