Brooklyn Knight by C.J. Henderson

Trent’s Fiction Pick:

(Tor Books, 2010)

Now, for a rare occurrence, I’ve found the first book of a series. I wasn’t sure what to expect from reading this book, but I must say that I was pleasantly surprised. The main characters of this book (or maybe they are the main ones for this series?) were believable to me, and I think I could see the connections being developed between them. The plot line kept me guessing as to who the “mastermind” was behind the problems faced by the main character. And I didn’t figure it out until the main character himself did.

The story follows a serious tone from beginning to end, with a nice mix of comedic conversation mixed in to liven things up at times. So overall, if you are looking for a fantasy title/series with a mix of modernism (it’s set in current day New York), then I would have to say that this is one title worth checking into.
