Home cooking with Trisha Yearwood

Home cooking

Shirley’s non-fiction pick

Clarkson Potter Publishers, 2010.

This book combines two of my favorite things, cookbooks and country music.  I love looking at cookbooks and I love Trisha Yearwood as a country singer, so with this cookbook I get both (although I don’t hear Trisha singing)!

The recipes are down to earth.  Recipes that everyone can make and you have most of the ingredients in your cupboards.  The pictures are great too….that is what makes a great cookbook and makes you want to try the recipes.

Some of my favorites are:  (and I hope to try these soon)

  • Chicken poppy seed salad
  • Slow-cooker pork loin
  • Baked bean casserole
  • Cranberry-orange relish

I also love the little stories about how the recipes came about, whether they are from family or friends and the little bits of information about each one of them is great too.

So, you can’t go wrong with this cookbook (at least I can’t)!
