Two women, each cast adrift by unforeseen events in their lives, meet by accident on a Nantucket beach and are drawn into a friendship. Olivia is a young mother of an autistic boy named Anthony. Her marriage badly frayed by years of stress, she comes to the island to find answers. Beth, a stay-at-home mother of three girls is also trying to come to terms with changes in her life. She rekindles her passion for writing, determined to find her own voice again.
What can I say about Love Anthony other than it’s a must read. If you have read Still Alice or Left Neglected you already know Lisa Genova can write a book that grabs you and pulls you into another world. The subjects she writes about aren’t always ones you would think would be page turners but she pulls it off.
This time she delves into the little know subject of autism. You are drawn into the world of an autistic boy, Anthony, and the people that have crossed paths with him. The way the story unfolds and weaves together is simply wonderful. It flips between Beth and Olivia each chapter so you’ll be anxious to see what’s happening with them. It had me not wanting to put the book down. Grab this book and a cup of cocoa and enjoy.
P.S. Maybe some Kleenex as well.
