Flatiron Books, 2015
A non-fiction pick by Glenn
Furiously Happy is furiously funny.
I can’t remember the last time a book made me laugh so much.
Many promise to do so but often fall flat and fail miserably.
Jenny Lawson has the edge – granted her style is a tad irreverent. If you’re not easily offended no harm no foul. If you’re in the market for a book that will tickle your ribs maybe allow yourself this little indulgence. The content centres around her many so-claimed health disorders – ultimately indicative of mental illness. Really though, a woman with the skills and ability to crank out a best selling book maybe has it a bit more together than many of the rest of us. Her previous book “Let’s pretend this didn’t happen” was a New York Times best seller. I speculate that she perhaps knows that there is a rather large target audience for this material . We all think we have problems after all and our neighbors have every more… In any event, Jenny delivers and will more than likely be among the few writers out there to make some furious income with this second book.
